New client in Saugatuck has an opening for an Accountant position within their small business.  Position could be temp-to-hire or direct hire depending on the candidate selected. This position requires the following and associate's degree in accounting or relevant experience. Work hours may vary from 6 to 8 hours daily, with flexible of starting and ending times and a flexible lunch hour.

Must have experience, or willingness to learn the following:
  • All aspects of accounting/bookkeeping skills required for small business operations including but not limited to accounts receivable and payable. A strong understanding of the financial reporting and general ledger structure.
  • All aspects of small business payroll including commissions, retirement, and medical plans along with filing all necessary taxes including monthly and quarterly tax forms.
  • Reconciling monthly bank statements.
  • Reconciling incoming commission statements and premium payments for customers.
  • A strong understanding of reading and tying out all reports including general ledger trial balance, balance sheet and income statement and communicating with CPA on all financial statements on a quarterly basis and yearend tax filing preparation.
  • Experience in insurance agency finance operations preferred but not required.
  • Candidate mut have an eager willingness to learn the insurance agency management system, Vertafore AMS 360 and a strong understanding of MS Office products.
  • Preferred candidate will have strong organizational and time management skills and the ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.

Job Requirements

 

Associates Degree in area related to description, or relevant experience
Must have accounting/bookkeeping experience with knowledge/experience with payroll, including filing state and federal taxes and monthly/quarterly reports.  Current payroll system is through Excell.
Experience in insurance agency finance operations preferred but not required.  MUST have a willingness to learn OS in place (Vertafore AMS 360).
