This local south side Holland company that manufactures and designs furniture is seeking a Panel Refruber!


Position Summary

The Panel Refurbishment Technician is responsible for refurbishing office panels with precision and efficiency according to job specifications. This role requires strong attention to detail, the ability to read and interpret work orders, and hands‑on experience using tools and materials to restore panels to quality standards.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Read, interpret, and follow work orders, labels, and job specifications to ensure accurate completion of assignments.
  • Repair office panels using a variety of hand and power tools, including hammers, screwdrivers, drills, staple guns, air screw guns, heat knives, and thumpers.
  • Remove existing fabric by manually handling and flipping panels; clean and prepare panel edges for refurbishment.
  • Measure panels to verify correct sizing and layout fabric accordingly.
  • Stretch, align, and secure fabric by hand using spray adhesive, thumper, or staple gun, ensuring a smooth and professional finish.
  • Trim excess fabric, flip panels, and repeat the refurbishment process on the opposite side.
  • Assemble bases, top caps, and side rails using a rubber mallet and air screw gun.
  • Inspect finished panels for defects, damage, or inconsistencies to ensure quality standards are met before final approval.
  • Accurately record time spent on projects and production tasks.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area; properly store tools and materials.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support production and operational needs.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


· Strong attention to detail with the ability to produce precise, high-quality work.

· Sharp eye for detail and precision, ensuring that all cubicle panels are flawlessly reupholstered and assembled to standard.

· Ability to read and interpret work orders, labels, and specifications.

· Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination for handling panels and fabric application.

· Physical ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 100 pounds and occasionally more than 100 pounds


EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

1. High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

2. Interpersonal and problem-solving skills.

3. Excellent time management and follow up skills, and the ability to multi-task and prioritize work.

4. Prior experience in furniture assembly, upholstery or panel refurbishment is preferred.


LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information to customers other employees of the organization.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to count, add, and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.


REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
